HI, I’m Michele! I’m excited to launch NOS Kids with my daughter-in-law, Anna, for a couple of reasons.
First, I’ve specialized in understanding what consumers are looking for when it comes to natural and sustainable products for the past decade. I’ve watched and been so impressed by how younger consumers (Millennials and Gen Z), have caused whole industries to shift their focus toward more natural and sustainable products. And I’ve watched so many Millennials and Zs themselves create amazing companies to meet the growing demand for natural and sustainable. At this point, I’ve personally interviewed hundreds of parents in-depth about their worries, needs, and dreams for their kids; and we’ve conducted tens of thousands of surveys with parents to help companies develop winning natural and sustainable products. This website gives me the chance to share what I’ve learned.
My second reason is a lot more personal (and cute)! In January of this year, my first grandchild was born. His mom, Anna (my partner in this blogging enterprise), is a thorough researcher in her own right, and has spent so many hours researching child development and milestones, infant health & wellness, and the numerous types of products that infants, toddlers, and children need. She, my son, and my grandson have given me my “why” for wanting to build this site – a strong desire to help parents more easily learn about and evaluate the growing number of natural and sustainable products available to them so they can make the best decisions for their own families.
Finally, as a life-long business owner myself (26 years now!), I know there’s nothing like building a business of your own to provide the freedom to balance work and family in a way that makes sense for you. I hope our site will become a family legacy that helps not just Anna’s family, but many generations of parents and babies yet to come.
Hi, I’m Anna and like many of you, I’m a new mom too. I met my husband, Rob, in 2019, when he was a US Marine stationed in Japan and I was living in Sydney, Australia, working at a children’s hospital (in the PR department). After a fairy-tale romance, and the start of a global pandemic, Rob & I reunited in late 2020 when we both moved to South Carolina.
Fast forward two & a half years, and we’re now living in the Washington, DC area with our seven-month-old son, Arlo. I’m excited about growing this blog business because I know from personal experience how much it is needed! When Arlo was born, I had an amazing team of nurses, doctors and consultants providing around the clock care for him and I. Because of the great care I received, we were able to spend my hospital time soaking in the precious moments with our son.
It wasn’t until I was being discharged with my newborn baby and pamphlets on ‘how to take care of your baby’ that I was hit with an overwhelming feeling, how am I going to do this? I no longer had the luxury of a team answering questions and providing information when I needed it. My parents were half a world away in Australia, Michele lives in Chicago, and I did not have a close network of friends because I am new to this area (and the United States!). So I found myself trawling the internet in between feeds and noticed a common theme in mom discussions: What is safe for baby? As I continued gathering more and more information, I realized that the searches that gave me the best results where went I looked for products, remedies, and problem-solvers that were natural, organic, or sustainable.
It took a lot of serious searching to find a lot of websites I could trust. It’s my hope that through our business, we can make it easier for parents to find everything you’re looking for when it comes to natural, organic, and sustainable living for families and over time build a wonderful supportive community too.
